MasterFinish RL 98
Readily biodegradable vegetable-oil based release agent emulsion
Formwork removal can damage precast concrete elements without the use of a release agent. However, traditional mineral-based form release agents are non-biodegradable and non-renewable, presenting a problem for sustainability-conscious MCP manufacturers.
MasterFinish RL 98 emulsion is a readily biodegradable, ready-to-use vegetable oil-based release agent (VERA) that enables the easy de-moulding of concrete and the production of clean, stain-free concrete surfaces. Using MasterFinish RL 98 stops formwork from being over-oiled with normal application quantities. Applied correctly, the adhesion of further coats to the concrete, such as plaster or paint, is unaffected.
Where to use MasterFinish RL 98?
MasterFinish RL 98 can be used in the precast production plant or onsite for a high-quality surface finish. It is compatible with expanded polystyrene, flexible and non-flexible formwork and can accommodate both normal and delayed stripping. It is suitable for both absorbent and non-absorbent wooden formwork in rain-protected areas.
MasterFinish RL 98 is ideal for the production of cement-bonded pressboard and fibre-reinforced cement panels on steel formwork, as well as oiling paver boards in the concrete block and paver industry (it can be diluted for this application).
Thanks to its compatibility with flexible plastic moulds, MasterFinish RL 98 may be suitable for the wetcast stone production – here, we recommend performance tests.
What makes MasterFinish RL 98 different?
MasterFinish RL 98 improves the exposed concrete surface while reducing costs by decreasing application time. It facilitates quicker stripping and easier and faster cleaning of forms and increased formwork longevity.
Solvent-free and ready to use, it is safe and eliminates many of the health and environmental risks of traditional form release agents based on mineral oils, meaning workers can use it with maximum confidence onsite and in the precast plant.
