MasterEase® admixture for low-viscosity concrete now available in Hong Kong

    • Improves rheological properties of concrete
    • Makes pumping, placing and finishing easier with reduced carbon footprint

Hong Kong – June 17, 2016 – BASF is bringing MasterEase®, the next-generation admixture for low-viscosity concrete, to Hong Kong. The new admixture range improves the rheological properties and stability of high-performance concrete.

Launched under the Master Builders Solutions brand, this new generation of polymers is a faster and more economical solution that reduces the plastic viscosity of concrete by up to 30 percent. Hence it reduces the time and effort for pumping and placement of concrete, making installation much easier and faster.

Overall construction expenditure in Hong Kong is expected to remain at a high level of HK$180-HK$210 billion in 2017-2018, according to the Construction Industry Council. In particular, there is a growing demand for smart construction solutions that optimize cost, maximize building energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. “Hong Kong is unique for its expertise in the rapid construction of high quality apartments, office towers and other infrastructure projects even in the most challenging locations. High performance construction solutions play a vital role in these structures. As a flexible and economical solution, MasterEase concrete admixtures add value to construction projects by helping improve durability and saving time and cost,” said Dr. Jianying Yang, General Manager of BASF’s Construction Chemicals Division in Greater China.

Concrete producers and users will benefit in many ways from this new technology, which is flexible and can be adapted to challenging situations such as temperature and material variations. It is particularly suitable for concrete mixes which are designed and optimized for advanced engineering properties and environment friendliness. High-strength concrete with low water/cement ratios, and mixes with higher levels of secondary cementitious materials, reduce concrete’s carbon footprint. MasterEase makes it easier to produce and place thus helping engineers and investors to improve sustainability ratings of their projects.

During the launch, a demonstration of the advantages of MasterEase was arranged for 40 invited guests, to experience the quality of the new technology up close.
