BASF introduces MasterFiber MAC 360 FF synthetic hybrid fiber
BEACHWOOD, Ohio – March 8, 2017– BASF introduces MasterFiber® MAC 360 FF, an enhanced synthetic hybrid fiber developed to meet the needs of contractors, concrete producers, and engineers. The fiber strengthens plastic concrete to minimize shrinkage and settlement cracking, while effectively enhancing the post-crack flexural toughness of hardened concrete.
"We developed a product with our customers in mind. This new hybrid fiber offers versatility, ease of use, and long-term value," said Dan Vojtko, Product Manager for the Admixture Systems business of BASF's Construction Chemicals. "MasterFiber MAC 360 FF hybrid fiber is a proven system that boosts concrete durability and heightens overall performance."
BASF designed this hybrid fiber to serve as a noncorrosive, three-dimensional, secondary reinforcement alternative to conventional welded-wire reinforcement (WWR), small diameter bars and steel fibers. This durable, easy-to-use fiber is manufactured from a proprietary blend of polypropylene resins for use in producing fiber-reinforced concrete compliant with ASTM C1116/C116M Standard Specification for Fiber-Reinforced Concrete.
Among its many features, this hybrid fiber provides effective crack and plastic shrinkage control and reduced settlement cracking, while effectively increasing the post-crack residual strength, flexural toughness, impact and shatter resistance of concrete. MasterFiber MAC 360 FF hybrid fiber also offers exceptional finishability.
Typical applications for the hybrid fiber include hand-troweled concrete; industrial, warehouse, commercial and residential slabs-on-ground; concrete pavements, white-topping and overlays; composite metal decks; architectural panels and many other situations.
