CIMIE 2017: BASF showcases hygienic coating that improves food safety and flooring durability

■Non-tainting, easy-to-clean floors receive HACCP international certification for food safety

Qingdao, China – October 17, 2017 – At the 15th China International Meat Industry Exhibition (CIMIE) 2017 in Qingdao International Convention Center, from October 18 to 20, BASF will showcase its Ucrete flooring solutions, which help the meat processing industry create a safe, hygienic working condition. 

“Food safety is crucial to China’s meat and sausage processing industries. Plants must meet the most stringent cleanliness and hygiene requirements,” said Dr. Jian Ying Yang, General Manager, BASF Construction Chemicals Greater China. “The Ucrete flooring system is non-tainting and easy-to-clean, which enhances food safety by preventing cross-contamination in the packaging facilities or during food preparation process.” The Ucrete flooring has been approved under the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), an international food safety certification.          

In addition, floors in the meat processing industry face intensive exposure to organic fluids, grease and hot water on a continuous basis and acids, and other aggressive cleaning products are used regularly to maintain hygiene. The Ucrete heavy duty polyurethane flooring system has proven itself in these applications for more than 40 years. The Ucrete floors are durable and have bacterial cleanability comparable to stainless steel standards. Depending on the thickness applied, floors can withstand temperatures ranging from -40 °C to 130 °C.
